Who is Femina ry?

Femina ry is a Finnish non-governmental organisation founded in 2017. We work at the intersection of gender equality, legal empowerment, education, and international cooperation — with a particular focus on migrant women, youth, and vulnerable communities.

We run the Femina Legal Clinic, deliver coaching and career support, manage EU-funded cross-border projects, and build networks that last. Our work is rooted in the principle that every person deserves the tools to shape their own future.

We are funded by Erasmus+, Nordic Culture Point, local and individual partners. We welcome new collaborators at every level.

The issues we work on are urgent: misinformation spreading faster than facts, gender gaps that persist in every sector, and young people excluded from the decisions that shape their lives. Our projects are the direct response.

Nordic Youth Media Lab: Critical Thinking & Digital Democracy
Empowering young people aged 16–30 across four countries to fight disinformation, create digital content, and strengthen democratic participation through co-creation and the Nordic Media Festival.
Result 120+ youth trained, 4 countries connected, Nordic Media Manifesto launched, open-access Media Hub established.

Women’s Leadership in Health & Safety Education
Six Femina staff trained in Riga on gender-sensitive approaches to health, safety, and digital education — building a replicable international model with Latvia.

Supporting migrant women’s civic and democratic participation in Finland through Finnish language cafés, legal consultations, coaching, and community-building activities in Helsinki and the surrounding region.
