Aurora Between Shores

A Nordic-Baltic youth musical exploring identity, migration and climate through artistic co-creation.

An international cultural project connecting young people, migrants and artists from the Nordic region to create an original musical performance.

About the Project

“Aurora Between Shores” is an innovative Nordic-Baltic musical created by young people aged 11–26 together with professional artists. The project combines performing arts, intercultural dialogue and youth participation to explore themes of migration, identity, belonging and climate change in contemporary Nordic societies.

Participants from Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Estonia collaborate across borders to write songs, develop choreography, create visual design and contribute to the script of an original musical performance.

The project is led by Femina ry (Finland), an organisation working at the intersection of youth work, artistic excellence and intercultural dialogue.

Innovation

The project innovates by merging professional musical theatre with youth-led co-creation across borders. Instead of a traditional top-down production model, young participants act as co-authors of the artistic work.

This approach combines performing arts, non-formal education and digital collaboration to create a scalable Nordic model of inclusive cultural production.

Sustainability

  • Ecological sustainability through responsible travel and reusable stage materials.
  • Economic sustainability through shared Nordic resources and durable outputs.
  • Social sustainability through inclusive participation, gender equality and youth empowerment.
“Like the Northern Lights, creativity appears when different energies meet.”
