Pathways to Equality:
A Collaboration between the Nordic and Baltic Countries on the Sustainable Development Goals
The project is an international collaboration between Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, and Latvia, designed to strengthen the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By enhancing CSOs’ knowledge, skills, and active engagement, the project aims to create a network of agents of change who can drive sustainable development at local and international levels.
Key Activities:
- Local Workshops: Workshops in Nordic and Baltic countries to engage CSOs and experts in discussions on the SDGs.
- Expert and CSO Joint Meetings: Three meetings in Finland, Sweden, and Latvia to develop an Educational Toolkit and Web-resource on SDGs and gender equality.
- Educational Toolkit: A manual and short educational films on SDGs and gender equality, available in Finnish, Swedish, Danish, and English.
- Web Resource: A digital platform to share knowledge and resources on sustainable development.
Target Groups:
- Civil society organizations (CSOs)
- Experts in sustainable development (teachers, youth workers, specialists)
- Representatives from educational institutions and local communities
- Youth and young professionals
Expected Outcomes:
- Increased awareness and knowledge of the SDGs among CSOs.
- Enhanced capacity of CSOs to act as agents of change in their communities.
- Creation of a lasting network of CSOs across the Nordic-Baltic region.
- Development of tools and resources to support sustainable development efforts.
The project fosters cross-border collaboration on sustainability and gender equality, aligning with the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Vision 2030. It promotes information exchange, skill development, and cultural awareness, while empowering women and gender minorities through inclusive participation and mentorship.
The project emphasizes ecological, economic, and social sustainability:
- Ecological: Minimizing waste, reducing CO2 emissions through virtual events, and promoting clean energy solutions.
- Economic: Boosting employability in green sectors through skills training.
- Social: Promoting gender equality and social equity through inclusive events and activities.
