Femina was enthusiastic about participating in the media literacy summer school “Media Critical Thinking: An Educated and Skilled Society” which took place from 17 to 19 August at the Toila spa, Estonia. This enriching event brought together young people, community members, and experts interested in modern media and social issues.
The Summer School aims to develop media literacy skills, encourage participants to become co-creators of media, promote critical thinking about media content and personal media habits, promote interaction and cooperation with national and local media, create a safe environment for expressing opinions on important issues.
Key themes:
- Disinformation and propaganda: Addressing privacy, information security and media culture.
- Media criticism: Encouraging critical thinking, source analysis and media content evaluation.
- Media production: Skills in blogging, article writing, video creation and digital media.
- Media Behaviour: Understanding media consumption across age groups and assessing the reliability of media channels.
- Democratic values: Emphasising participation and freedom of expression.
Participants engaged in various activities designed to build an independent perspective and promote professional discussions on the role of modern media in society.
Constructivist knowledge and media literacy skills enabled deeper critical thinking and efficient data handling. The Summer School provided a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging constructive ideas and finding answers to pressing questions.
Femina is proud to have been part of this initiative, which created an informal network for community and media exchange and supported the development of an educated and skilled society.
